Lesson Portfolio
I work with a project-based classroom curriculum that appropriately combines student inquiry and standards-based learning. Watch my 5th grade English class teaching video and click the images below to get an idea of the kinds of activities I use in my classrooms.

English
This is a project that I spend roughly four weeks on with my students. The goals are to introduce them to global issues, guide them in collating research, and familiarize them to tools that they will use to write and publish this research. The project culminates in a beautiful newsletter that students have completed entirely independently.
Geography
I use this mini-project to bring together different elements: collaboration, environmental responsibility, critical thinking, and digital literacy. I apply this project to meeting National Geography standards 4, 6, and 14, which all relate to human-environment interaction. Here, my students begin navigating the nuances of appreciating and interacting with nature.
Science
This project requires students to ask entertaining but difficult questions about our place in the Universe. Given a hypothetical situation, the students engage in a design process assignment that invites cooperation, critical thinking, the application of scientific knowledge, spatial awareness, and math skills. Ultimately, they will develop the rubrics for survival on another planet.
